What you need

  • 1 tortilla
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese or 2 slices of cheese
  • 1 tsp butter or oil, optional
  • Pinch of salt, optional

Step 1 of 4
  1. Heat a small pan on medium. Add a little butter or oil if you want crispier edges.
  2. Place the tortilla in the pan.
  3. Add cheese to one half of the tortilla, then fold the other half over it.
  4. Cook for about 1–2 minutes until the bottom is lightly golden and the cheese starts melting.
  5. Flip carefully and heat the other side for 30–60 seconds if needed.
  6. Take it out, let it cool for a moment, then eat.
Why this works: It is hot, fast, salty, and filling with almost no prep or decisions.
  • Keep tortillas and cheese in the same spot so this becomes automatic.
  • Use pre-shredded cheese if cutting feels like too much.
  • This is a good “I need food in 4 minutes” meal.
  • Add hot sauce or salsa after cooking.
  • Add ham, chicken, or beans if you want more protein.
  • Use two tortillas if you want a thicker quesadilla-style version.
  • Use whatever cheese melts well. No need to overthink it.
